Meet the Staff

Amos Tucker

abtucker@ncsu.edu

Mr. Tucker came to us in January of 2021 bringing with him more than 35 years of manufacturing experience. He has the distinction of holding not one but two journeyman cards from the State of North Carolina; having completed apprenticeship programs as both a machinist and a welder. In 2002 he earned his AAS in Tool and Die Making from Wilson Technical Community College and went on to train as a Certified Welding Inspector for the American Welding Society. While managing a successful job shop in Wilson, Mr. Tucker taught machining and welding classes at WTCC and Johnston Community College and provided many of his student’s employment after graduation as a steppingstone into the workforce. His hobbies include blacksmithing, woodworking, and restoring antique tools. In 2014 he was asked by the ASME club at NCSU to hold a workshop here on the grounds of Centennial campus where he introduced many future engineers to the ancient art of forging iron.
